Fumigation Services

During storage we recommend trapping and sampling by way of insect traps. Monitoring should take place at regular intervals.

Should hot spots or sprouting be evident further investigation needs to be carried out to eliminate insect activity. We provide expert fumigation services using Aluminium Phosphide to the agricultural market and allied trades.

GFS provides services to:

• Millers (Bins)
• Shippers (Containers)
• Import/Exporters.

Plastic sheets are placed over the commodity. Aluminium Phosphide Gas is introduced and over a period of between 14 and 28 days (depending on temperature) the gas permeates through the commodity killing all the life stages of insects.

Once gas detection apparatus have shown that the concentration gas in all areas is below the Occupational Exposure Standards (OES) and the current maximum exposure limited (MEL) a fumigation clearance certificate is issued. It should be noted that traces of gas can remain within some commodities for some time and these will air off slowly presenting no risk.

If commodities are sealed up again this could lead to concentrations above the OES and a further, though shorter airing period may be necessary.
